In My Lifetime I Never…

In my lifetime I never, ever, imagined that the United States would more resemble a third world country itching for civil war than the democracy touting country we all love. On January 6th, while Congress was discharging their duty of the electoral vote certification and declaration of the president and vice-president of the United States, an angry mob laid siege on the United States Congress to stop the certification and steal the election to keep the lunatic Trump in office. What we are finding out is that there was a more sinister action taking place by a right-wing fringe white-supremist group under the cover of an angry incited mob.

Has there ever been a more corrupt lunatic confirmed by an electoral college win in 2016 and 74,000,000 voting people in 2020? I don’t think so, and the months that have followed, have revealed just how dangerous he is and this mob was. Not just a bunch of misguided, conspiracy believing group of white people that feel they have been disenfranchised by their elected officials and society, no, it is being led by fringe organizations and politicians that want total rule and the removal of check and balance for their actions and in return ensure to white rule the United States.

My think it all began long before Trump. I have heard for many years the hatred for Pelosi, McConnel, Graham, Bush, Obama, Clintons, etc. What Trump has managed to do is rally the rudderless of our nation that feel left behind through culture, the people-of-color movements, and misinformed ideas of not being able to get ahead because no one will give them anything. They speak of blue-collar people being the backbone of this country, but I also find them to be the most critical of those with success and yelling back against that feeling of a thumb being held on their life. Why? My example is just one, but many exist, not being able to go to college because they don’t have mommy and daddy paying for it. However, my kids didn’t let parents not having the money to send them to school stop them from going. They have never let anything stand in their way when they truly wanted something to happen in their life. The difference, I believe is the fact that my kids never heard anything other than they can accomplish anything and will always find the way to success. Things like money in hand didn’t stop them. But you hear it from those of the feel-sorry-for-me movement or the everyone-keeps-me oppressed white people of this country. I have listened to this all my life and have watched those in political office manipulate and incite them for votes to maintain a fear in them of having more impact felt in their life if the left-wing democrats are allowed to elevate a culture over their disenfranchised beliefs. I see these people posting things on Facebook referencing welfare issues and social fears and that they work for a living and don’t want handouts of a socialist nation. But, as it was proven to Trump, more white people are on welfare than all other races combined. Disinformation, is and has been the tool to control them by their own party for so long and by parents that have bought into the idea they will never get ahead because the democrats are taking everything they make and give it to the person-of-color welfare recipient. This isn’t true, of course, but the belief is there.  Of course, there are the same disenfranchised soles manipulated by the left-wing side too. Many bring-up the history of the atrocities to the black populace of our past and the protests that turned to riots in many of the cities just last Summer as being the same acts. Although I do feel that black America historically, quite possibly now and in the past, have faced an oppressed life. This is due to a calculated knowledge and action to bring those in slavery to America to serve the white plantation owners and white people of our Southern nation. I certainly don’t feel the injustices are on the same scale, but I do have to acknowledge that I understand there is a thought that exists in America that many whites feel they have been in control and others should accept their position in life. It is just less obvious to me how we resolve this feeling in a just and fair action to all. That is not true, I do understand how we do it, but I know we could never be empathic and sympathetic enough to try to find a way that benefits all instead of elevating one’s plight over another. We, those of us that don’t feel oppressed, have never found any other way but to fight one cause at a time and often at the unintentional suppression and expense of another. We need to find a way for the sake of our country!

The fringe’s answer and the right-wing counter-culture is to bring about a civil war that rewrites the history of the civil war and puts us back to a time of white supremacy, white rule, and white allegiance. Have we not learned from history with our own life leading up to the civil war, Apartheid, or Nazi Germany the outcomes of the chaos of demanded change by force? When any one race has tried to exert power with uniformity to make others become a second-class citizen, it has been extinguished by either the government, international law, sanctions, or by war.

Many of us are sitting on the sidelines. We are either unwilling to be involved or are scared at the retribution that might occur by speaking out. I feel that anxiety and although I would love to march the streets and speak my mind, I let the fact of where I live rule my guidance to do the right thing for me alone. I see evidence of those involved in the subversive acts on the Congress last week in full view everywhere I turn. Almost eleven months since the election, there are still people with Trump signs posted in their yards and flying from their pickup trucks as if the election actually was fraud and that Trump is the legitimate president. Why do they think this? Only because Trump says it is so without producing one shred of evidence and hundreds of court rulings saying the opposite, but him calling it a left-wing conspiracy makes it so to the lazy minded followers. But there is still a part of me that feels my best course of action would be through my voice. I have no desire to be a part of the corrupt political world, but I feel I can point to the dishonesty through my thoughts on paper.

I watched the proceedings of impeachment of Trump. It didn’t remove him from office, but it had the hope to remove the possibility of Trump ever running for federal office again. For this, I feel it would have been just. It was a just attempt to cut the head off the beast that many are thinking is leading this revolt, but I feel another head will grow from the wound and may even have more power and a bigger following. Making Trump a martyr would be worse than Trump alone. All it would take is to have someone that has more charisma, a stronger intelligence, a better hold on policy, less self-promotion, less corrupt involvement, and we will be in real trouble. The problem with Trump is that he thinks one can rise in revolt through power of might. I don’t hold to that, but I do understand that is the true appeal to the base that Trump has. Again, imagine a Republican leader with the same intent and the calculating brain and tact to attempt to do the same thing without people to try storming the congress with pitch forks, pipe bombs, and American flags used to bash a building and the police. It will be through diplomacy and we will say it is civil because it follows the guidelines of moral and civil liberty of our constitution. Something Trump didn’t have the ability to do. This is what scares me the most, that person that you don’t see coming, we but know is out there waiting for the moment with a different game plan and the same goal in mind. That person might actually pull it off. It scares me death and now is the time to stop mumbling under our breath and rise to the occasion to combat evil face to face.
