Fringe Benefits?

When I refer to fringe benefits, I’m referring to the marginal benefit of politics and that it isn’t anything new, but certainly either far right or far left. Absurdly, we have a handpicked Supreme Court that is set to overturn an almost fifty years ruling by the Supreme Court in 1973, when Roe v. Wade was ruled on. This established the basis for the pro-choice ideology giving women the choice to decide what happens with their body. The current support nationally is an average seventy percent. Even in Florida and Texas, following the sneaked release of the upcoming opinion and ruling, there is still an overwhelmingly supportive number near eighty percent to not outlaw abortion. Even with this kind of support, the fringe GOP and its stooge kangaroo GOP Supreme Court, is hell bent on being a self-serving court more ruled by a fringe political party ideology and not the rule of law, and certainly not constitutional law. This ruling is without a doubt contrary to the popular belief.

I ran across an old George Carlin routine, some twelve years ago that addressed the current philosophy and what is apparent been the thought for the GOP for a long time, that addressed fallacy of the GOP stance on abortion rights. He hits the nail on the head, in that the GOP is not pro-life, they are anti-women or maybe even only pro-birth. As soon as someone is born, they are basically on their own with the GOP as they don’t support any reform that creates help with childcare, child tax credits, minimum wage that would allow a single parent to support a child, and certainly don’t support any program that aids the poor with planned parent-hood. They feel it is their right to tell women that men know best and it is the woman’s fault that she got pregnant and now she must carry it to full term. It doesn’t matter that this may have come as the result of incest, rape, or any of the other ways a woman can become pregnant against her will. They treat all women, even their own wealthy white women that have become pregnant due to inappropriate relationship, as if they all are sluts for getting pregnant outside of their limited religious view of an acceptable way of becoming pregnant. The more things change, the more they stay the same. The GOP ideology should always be referred to idiotic-ology as the self-proclaimed idiots feel they are the only ones that have a determination of what God’s intent was. Of course, the bible doesn’t and never has talked about abortion, probably because it didn’t exist two thousand years ago in the middle-east. Obviously, the middle-east hasn’t changed much on the way of thinking that women are a second-class citizen and that inappropriate pregnancy might just get a women killed even in a case of rape and incest. The man is not at fault and surely it was the woman that lured the man into weakness. Stupid, obviously, but real, again obvious.

I was watching my morning liberal rag-time show on MSNBC, and also the source of many of my writings, which played a clip of Governor Newsome of California interview and it was as if he had just watched George Carlin and then went ahead and gave a passionate interview stating the same things that George Carlin received laughs about for the absurdity of the conservative fringe right. This was followed by the soapbox of the host being a literal restatement of Carlin and Newsome. How can something opposed by a clear majority of the people of the United States be something so clearly greeted by this fringe group of republicans, but yet running away from the idea they had anything to do with it? Meaning, they have been advocating for the change in law for fifty years and now that it is seemingly about to happen, they are running away from any comment on the matter because they know that the women in their constituency are about to be very pissed off and it may mean they might not be re-elected as a result.

The scary part of this to us all, aside from this fringe decision on women’s rights, it opens the door for other rights decisions passed over the last fifty years. What about other GOP hated rights like voting rights, race laws giving rights to people of color, and even more recent LBGTQ rights and their rights to health care and legal marriages. These all will be targets of this conservative fringe ruled Supreme Court. It’s fucking scary! I heard this morning that not only is Florida moving ahead with the recently passed law of Don’t say Gay law that doesn’t allow schools to talk about LBGTQ people until fifth grade. Guess what? It wasn’t being taught anyway; it is just another of the fringe right BS scared about their way of life being taken away ,even though it is a fringe way of life. They want to setback this country fifty years to a time when only white men had rights and every one else had limited rights. White men are scared and are afraid of being the new minority, which they really have become in ideology.

As much as I thought the idea of a civil war in this country was a stupid thought, I now am giving it more consideration as the fringe right and left are splitting this country. And yes, this environment isn’t totally on the GOP, the fringe liberal left is just as much to blame as they feel they also know the best for the nation. The radical idea to move away from everything that is climate change oriented or animal rights supportive, or any of the other cries for helping those that can’t help themselves is just as fringe thinking as the abortion issues, religious mis-interpretations, and white men rule bullshit thinking. Civil war is exactly where this country is headed unless adults start taking control of this country and vote the fringe thinkers out of the governmental positions. If this isn’t a wake-up notice, I don’t know what else could be and there hasn’t been a bigger example of the need for everyone to get out and vote for both the mid-term elections this year and the presidential elections in 2024. I think every cycle of voting in the foreseeable future will carry this burden of need from all of us and if we all need to get out there and don’t let the squeaky-wheel fringe mongers be the controlling interest, then we will be ok. They are the fringe remember.

Back to abortion, I listened to my dad talking about a mailed out two-dose abortion pill that could be tele-prescribed by a Dr, PA, and a NP. This is done in the privacy of your own home and certainly in the privacy from those that will bring about a lawsuit in those states where the state government has washed its hands of the responsibility of policing abortion and put it in to the hands of your neighbors. Think about that. They create a law that now pits neighbor versus neighbor on a highly contested and to date a legal action. If that isn’t these governments steering us into a civil war I don’t what is. It is illegal for anyone to tamper with your mail, it is a federal crime and they certainly can’t monitor your phone calls, so people have already found a solution around the new state laws. I’ve always said that for every $2 spent, it takes 50 cents to defeat. Every time laws are made about abortions; the abortion rate goes up. That is a fact through the fifty plus years of this battle on pro-choice versus pro-life (again is really pro-birth or anti-women). However, in fifty years we still haven’t learned how to read a chart and determine there could be a clearer reaction to an issue.

I am just stumped at what is going on in this country and even in the world, as Putin still reigns terror on the people of Ukraine. It is nothing but a shit-show every time you turn on the tv. Trump is still in the news almost two years later with his dwindling following at his rallies crying about a rigged election, Marjorie Taylor Green and her rhetoric about spacemen, rigged elections, and democrats all being pedophiles along with any republican that doesn’t go along with their QAnon conspiracies, and also the Green New Deal from AOC. Radical left and right ideologies are giving no one any options. Maybe I’m missing something, in that I should have a choice and not be told one way or the other in how I should believe and that a centrist or moderate approach is bad for all. I still believe this country wants to benefit from cooler, wiser heads of the moderates and not be guided by the fringe benefit shoved down our throats. It’s our choice or no choice, my way or the highway. That is what the fringe benefit makers are promising you; a departure from normalcy and acceptance of all the crazy notions they can throw at us. I do know this, while we are shaking our heads and wondering if they can be real, they are steady taking our rights, telling us they know better, that our opinion doesn’t count, and we had better stand out of the way and let them decide what fringe benefits suit us the best.
