Times Past Coping
In these days of more and more uncertainty, I find myself reminiscing of times with happiness and a blissful unawareness to politics, health insurance, and all the adult things we have to think about these days. The insanity in our federal government and chiefly our illustrious buffoon of a president and all his minions is mind numbing. I’m thinking more about the places I have fished and the scenery that awe-inspired and had me wondering of days gone by. I remember things like scanning a valley and mountainside thinking of the people that had gone before me and the struggles they must have endured just to survive. My butterflies with sporting events is much like waking daily to the uncertainty of what will the American people have to deal with today. Many of my thought processes have been to make sure I am grounded in happiness and less to the saddening current events. There are things going on with one of my kids that is dredging up old memories of painful processes and knowing that my child is having to deal with the same emotions that rocked my world for a brief time. I’m trying to make sure the feeling of being loved is strong and that this too will pass with the assurance that happiness is on the horizon. Joy will sneak back into life and possibly even love. For now, a must is to stand your ground and take care of yourself because unless you’re secure in being right and just, those around won’t be able to give strength in a healthy way. Kindness must be forefront to get through this even though kindness is the hardest emotion to muster.
The process of daily pushing thoughts back in my mind to find my happy place is difficult. Social media and news coverage is so complete and opinionated that sometimes you feel wasteful in trying to process info on your own, instead of letting them spoon feed our emotions and beliefs. The days of Walter Cronkite nightly news, straight up no bias intended, are long gone. This nation has become a society of mindless drones going about our lives and pleasuring those in charge above us. People don’t think with their minds, instead we compare everything to our personal ideologies. If it doesn’t fit our mold, we cast dispersion and shout insanity at it all. Where is my river and fish dangling on a line to get this crap out of my head?
When I was a young kid living in Texas, we used to go camping and fishing a lot. Many of my memories fishing were with my dad, uncle, and grandfather. Allnighter’s, fishing, eating fig newtons, and listening to the stories of these men. We would go home to clean the fish and nap until it was time for the fish-fry and a lot of laughter with family. I don’t remember parents being consumed with politics or actions of the government against the people. The universal thought was that everyone was suspicious of the government. By the time I started school, everyone had the right to vote and the civil rights of all were supposed to be the same although we are still fighting for equality today because too many of the insecure idiots of this country still want life as it was in the fifties. They want a feeling dominance over another race, not just one but all. I laugh when any of these people claim to be God fearing folks, because we all know Jesus would have a heart attack if he were here to see the bigotry, self-righteousness, and pure hatred people have for others in his name. People wonder why the younger people of this country have less to do with religion and instead are involved with social norms and the inadequacies of older people governing the younger ones. It’s the older generation that gets the insignificant thoughts living rent free in their heads. Prime example is the Bad Bunny half-time show. The show was great although it was all in Spanish. Bad Bunny was born and raised in Puerto Rico, a United States Province, and yet we have GOP idiots calling for an American show. Either these are dumbest idiots in the world or the biggest bigots in our country. The answer should be obvious, they’re both. A half-time entertainment show should be just that, entertainment and not grounds for politically motivated hatred. I’m just astounded at what this country has become. These are the same bozo’s that loved U2 and several other shows of international stars, and apparently are unaware of the political statement mouthpiece U2 has always been. These people are showing their asinine nature every chance they get. Instead of owning the libs, they seem only capable of owning their own emotional insecurities and waging war with themselves. Their true gift is saying one thing today and the opposite tomorrow as if people are stupid enough to only believe their last word. In history, this will go down as the most crooked, immoral, bigoted, self-righteous government to have existed. Yet they daily try to make us believe they have improved life for everyone while they protect the Epstein Class of billionaire child rapist and abusers. A firing squad would be pointless and frankly, too good for them. They’re entrenched dipshits of a political base gone wrong. Killing them would only make them martyr’s for the ignorant, and they’d run around yelling “the south will rise again” and waving their rebel flags.
Peaceful walks, fishing mindlessly, or reading a book are all lost on the countless ads and coverage of them. It’s all I want back, a simple coping mechanism for the ridiculous world we live in. I long for the past, but not the reasons this administration dreams of. I love people having civil liberties honored, everyone being free to voice their opinion, living free, and this nation not being the laughingstock of the world. It took four years to build trust from Trump’s first round and he destroyed it again in less than a year. The most harmful president in history and we just keep letting him have freedom to reign terror on the USA. Enough Trump and enough with the cronyism at the top. We need to take back this country via our vote, November is too far off, primaries are soon, we need to vote for those that will be good and not just perpetuate the problem further. I’ll dream later when times are simpler and I don’t have to worry about what I’m going to wake up to tomorrow morning.
