So Disappointed

I get disappointed more and more every day at how this country is being run, but more so, I understand how our president is so out of touch as he never has lived as the common man, in fact he looks down on us. Yet, so many put their faith in the idea that somehow he’ll get in touch with how we live. He is an uncommon man that has had money spoon-fed to him throughout his life, never working a day trying to scrounge for one more dollar to pay for a meal. He has never wanted for anything. If he wanted it, he got it, legally or not. He has no respect for anyone that isn’t super wealthy or in a position of dictator-like control of a country. Everyone around him sucks up to him and never challenges him to think about a different perspective because they are scared of losing their job. For many, a job they should never have held in the first place. But in the end, I’m not really disappointed with him, I’m frustrated that he isn’t trying to make any aspect of life better for me or anyone else considered the common man. However, I’m extremely disappointed in people that voted him into office again. The short-sided outlook of people to think they were going to get a better version the second time around. The idea of voting for change is ludicrous. Nothing, and I mean nothing changes in the capital except the people in the positions. They get to Washington D.C. and they meld into the same partisan politician as their predecessor and fail to listen to constituents only working to follow party politics. If anyone of us really was to get change, I’m not sure we’d like the results of what it would take to balance a budget, cut spending in a meaningful way, or be accepting of the social policies to help the needy. I’m convinced it is entirely impossible to please the nation because this country has become as cynical as every late-night host is towards our elected leaders.

The divide may never close in this country because we now have two generations of people that have no reference to bi-partisan politics because the last time we had that was over forty years ago. Instead, what I expect we’ll keep getting is this so-called voting for change never really expecting it but still holding out for the hope that it may happen. It’s not going to happen folks, the majority of people like to hide their heads in the sand and come out to vote annually hoping to see results different from the previous year then whining and moaning about what they did instead of demanding we get what we elected a person to do. The only change we’ll get is whether a D word or R word follows their name. Our politicians today don’t like answering questions and they show their chicken-shit nature by cancelling town halls or walking out of them when things get heated. They should be sitting their taking the heat and listening and then going back to D.C. and voting in line with what they just heard. But what we get when they do show up is trying to justify why they have voted 99.9% the way the president votes. I want politicians with a pair a balls not for the risk of getting in trouble doing illegal things, instead having the balls to stand up against idiotic notions making no sense for their constituency. Now that would be something.

I’m disappointed in the fact that the economy will never really get better. It might get more tolerable and some critical prices may drop in the affordability sense, the stock market might have an opportunity to keep growing and therefore I might make more money, but that is not really what I pay my bills with and buy groceries or gas. The government controls how much I might get in a wage, and they will tell me it is my responsibility to suffer no pay raise to do my part to drop the multi trillion-dollar debt by a few hundred million, but that money certainly is going to impact my future and my lifestyle and nothing will be done about the responsibility of the government to change how they are spending my money. As long as we have crooks in the government, they will line their pockets, make laws to benefit the rich, and blame the other guy for creating the problem for the same shit they are doing now.

Presidents should get one term to make a change and never be allowed to run again. Congressional members should never spend more than two terms in office and if they can’t make change happen, then get the hell out. I’m tired of the lifelong employees draining the system. When they leave office, the should have to wait until they are sixty-two before thay can draw a retirement commensurate with their time in their positions. No more spending one term and receiving full pay for the rest of their lives. They should have to follow the same rules all the other government personnel have to follow. If these people had to go back and make their law practice work, their business successful, or their jobs successful with a wage justified by what they do they might be more motivated to do the right thing in office.

My disappointment is rising and I feel like I’m choking on the results of the politicians we have elected to serve us. Start serving us and not the man that can’t put two sentences together having some meaning other than it’s the biggest, the most gold, or honor me as I’m making your miserable life better, believe me because I never lie! This country is sick and the Great Experiment is really being challenged right now and has been for multiple presidencies. I, like the majority of people in this country, will be looking for a change in my measurable life, not by the life of the ultra-rich cronies of the president. I’m tired of being disappointed. I may vote for the first time ever on a straight ticket. Billionaires be damned, I’m looking out for me and my family and have no trust nor faith in any in office right now. I want change, nothing will, but I want to see different players in the roles!
